Heating & Cooling FAQ

How often should my hvac system be serviced?

Inspecting your heating and cooling systems once every fall and once every spring is very beneficial in making sure any issues are addressed before the seasons really ramp up. Inspections range from changing the air filter to testing the thermostat and everything in between.

Do I need to cover up my outdoor air conditioner?

No, you do not. These units are made to withstand the elements. One thing to look out for though is if the unit is under an eve with the roof sloping towards the unit. If this is the case the outdoor unit is prone to damage with falling ice during the spring warm up and protection is recommended.

How often should I replace my filter?

Changing the air filter should be changed at a minimum every 3 months. If you have pets, smoke or use candles in your home then the filter should be monitored and changed more often.

Why is the air so dry in my home during winter time?

During winter months the air in your house is more dry due to the fact that cold air holds less moisture than warmer air does. Whenever doors are opened or if you have leaky windows, this leads to unwanted cold air entering the space causing the humidity levels to drop, other than installing more insulation or sealing windows during the colder months the sure fire way too add more humidity to your house is to get a whole house humidifier and take back control of comfort.

What is the life expectancy of my HVAC system?

How often you run your system, the system’s age, its make and model, and whether or not it was serviced regularly over the course of its life can all play a significant role in how long your system will last you.d/or air conditioner to last approximately 15 years.

What brands do you install?

Goodman, Rheem, Ruud, Amana, Carrier, Bryant, Payne, Trane, Lennox

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is essentially an air conditioner with an added ability to not only cool but heat as well.

Do I need HVAC maintenance?

It is always highly recommended to have a maintenance check up at least once a year. An Annual check up on Heating and Air conditioning systems will ensure that they are at there highest energy efficient levels.
